Brussels’ Hotel BLOOM! hosts a unique edition of its now well-known Art‘n BLOOM! concept, bringing art and charity together by commissioning artists to create limited-edition duvet covers that will go on sale on Saturday 23rd of June, with half of the sales proceeds going to SOS Kinderdorf. The special edition will also celebrate the launch of a new photography book linked to the charity’s work.

SOS Kinderdorf is a charity which takes on children and teenagers who come from difficult household situations, housing them in the organisation’s SOS Children’s Villages around Belgium. In order to help the charity fund additional art-led projects, Hotel BLOOM! has partnered up with SOS Kinderdorf in initiating a project which seeks to use the arts as a way of shining a positive light on the organisation’s work, hosting a special edition of its famed Art‘n BLOOM! concept, aptly titled “on the cover”. The idea is relatively simple: selected artists (some of which had already been invited to create murals for the hotel’s rooms, others who were specifically invited for this unique edition) were given complete carte blanche to design their limited-edition king size duvet covers, using the cloth as their very own canvas. These limited-edition covers will then be exhibited and auctioned off on the hotel’s first floor’s rooms on Saturday 23rd June.

As an added touch, the ‘on the cover edition’ will also celebrate the launch of a new book presenting the works of Jan Knops and photographer Cuny Janssen who spent several months with 33 SOS Kinderdorf’s children, capturing their worlds and getting the youngsters to talk about their experiences in the villages as well as their view of the outside world seen through their eyes. The photographs and the encounters that resulted from them will also be displayed at Bozar’s I don’t know why show.
