In what was arguably one of the most hotly anticipated shows to the start of the year, Brussels’ Bozar opened the doors to its Michaël Borremans quasi-retrospective, As Sweet as it gets, on Saturday 22nd February. With over 100 works spanning a 20 year career, the show draws on small-scale, early studies as well as more recent, large-scale portraits (including a mesmerising, ceiling-high portrait of Belgian model Hannelore Knuts) to provide a truly fascinating and full-circled insight into one of Belgium’s most enigmatic yet nonetheless deserving contemporary artists. The show, which runs for six months until 2nd August, will undoubtedly be one of the big ones of 2014 for the cultural behemoth. And you absolutely must go and visit it. Here are a few preview shots to wet your appetite.
