The latest installement in the famed DJ Kicks series (of which we’ll be delving into further in our December edition), Chromeo‘ s mix is a gallactical voyage back to the days of synthetised vocals and unabashed glittereness. Confirming the Canadian duo’s knack for funked up productions – somewhere in between what Edan playing Earth Wind & Fire and Bootsy Collins would sound like – the mix is a soundtrack for the 80s’ disco ball generation, at times a little OTT, but always good-humoured. Kano, Pierre Perpall and Val Young are all there, as are  more recent acts such as Chateau Marmont and Lifelike. The hour-long mix reads like an encyclopedia in robot-funk, with more than enough handclaps to appease today’s new wave glamsters.
