“The mix was recorded on a sunny wednesday afternoon at my studio in Aalst. The aim of this mix was to represent the stuff i’m into nowadays so it includes a lot of West Coast (The Netherlands) tracks because it has a huge influence on me production-wise and other tracks that have been on repeat for the last few months.”
Can you describe yourself in a few words? Your sound, approach to making music, your influences, how it all started, etc…
A friend of mine was already buying electronic music and it caught my attention so I started listening and buying records myself. About a year later I was already working in the local vinyl store as a student and this is where I learned a lot about music. It was a sad day when the store closed down. After a while I just tried making some music on my laptop with ableton myself. From there on, I began releasing records on my own….As for my influences it goes from early Bunker/Crème/Viewlexx stuff to the cheesiest Italo Disco records.
How did you first start making music? How does it fit into your life?
Just started out by making some music on my laptop with Ableton. After I got signed and received some money from gigs, I started buying loads of hardware. Now I use a mixture of both but to be honest I still prefer doing things “in the box” because it’s fast and easy. As for fitting music into my life, I need to make music everyday otherwise I’ll become an unpleasant human being according to my girlfriend.
Is music a full-time thing for you at the moment? If not, what are your other occupations?
Besides producing music and dj’ing I also have a full time job in the marble stone industry (a bit like the article you guys did on Van Den Weghe). Sleep is overrated anyway.
Can you describe the mix in a few words? What is its overriding influence, where would it best be enjoyed, what makes it special
I decided to incorporate some music from friends and labels I work with in this mix and others who I think are really talented, so lots of exclusive tracks that are coming out in 2016 are included in this mix. I also includes a remix I did for Lawrence Le Doux which I’m really happy about. I was so glad when he asked me to remix one of his tracks and it was so easy to do because the original already had really good parts.
