Nosedrip, born Ziggy Devriendt, is a DJ, selector and record store clerk whose knack for unearthing the obscure and little-known is second-to-none. With an ear for the lo-fi and minimal, the 26-year old is known for his wide-eyed, eclectic mixes that, most often than not, sound as though they were made for dubious wellness spa’s. Here, the record collector reveals his favourite Belgian releases.

1. Absent Music – The Monkey House (From the ‘Absent Ep’ released on EEtapes. Made somewhere in the 80’s)

I’m gonna start w’ my Favorite Belgian Track Of All Time So Far… An amazing minimal wave track… The moment the bassline tumbles in… My god <3

2. Walter Christian Rothe – Death (From the ‘Let The Night Last Forever’ LP released on Archipel in 1985)

Haunting new age… I wish I never added the guy on facebook though…

3. Mittland Och Leo – Jupiter Festival (From the ‘Myland And Lion’ 7” released on Ultra Eczema in 2011)

The feeling you get when two of your favorite people come out of your speakers when you sit home alone at night when it’s not raining.

4. Subject – Be Carefull (From the “Four In One” Compilation on Grafika Discs. 1982

I could easily share 15 of my favorite Alain Neffe tracks… Maybe I will one day…

5. Ssaliva – Orbiter (From the ‘Pantani’ tape released on Leaving Records in 2014)

Imagine the sound that floats around the concept of drugs…

6. Aril Laury – Moody (From The ‘Moody’ 7” released on Fly Records. Releasedate unknown)

Awkward waiting room melody… Basic drumcomputer preset… Spaghetti western feel thanks to the woman’s voice… What are we doing here…

7. Berntholer – Pardon Up Here (From the ‘Pardon Up Here’ 12” released in 1984)

Extended version of the “My Suitor” track arranged by Wim Mertens…

8. Bizjoe – Lui (From The Lp ‘Parels Voor De Zwijnen’ released on IBC in 1979)

I have to share a track that came to me via the “In Vol Ornaat” girls, gatekeepers of a forgotten flemish heritage… This ‘Bizjoe’ has an intro that could be made by Marvin Gaye if he had chose shrooms instead of crack…

9. Line Up Oona – Casserole 2 (From The EP ‘Casserole’ released in 1989 On Madagascar)

Dark track with a tribal feel produced by Luc Van Acker… I like dark tracks with a tribal feel, especially produced by Luc Van Acker…

10. Ali-Baba Et Son Ensemble – Mohammed De Tunis (From The 7” released in 1967)

Found this one recently in the crates of the Radio Martiko guys… Belly dance track w’ an awfull french accent… C’est trop chaud…

11. 701 Triangles – Esther (from the ‘Mister President’s Breakfast’ 7” released on Lirp in 1985)

Or when Buscemi made great Wave tracks in the 80’s… Also part of a great Walhalla compilation that recently came out…

12. Raphael – Archangelo (From the Lp ‘Stop, Look Listen’ released in 1972)

Mermaid Love… This could be my favorite jazz track in the world even..

13. Neon – Voices (From the ‘Sultana’ 12” released on Target in 1988)

A slow 110 bpm drama kind of track to let the people know that your here… Featured in the ‘TSOB’ docu & fits in everywhere else too… Made in my year of birth…

14. Sound Mercenary – Dilemma (From the ‘Dillema’ 12” on Buzz records, released in 1991)

Trance / New Beat embodied as a shovell in mud…

15. Lhasa – The Attic (From ‘The Attic’ 12” released in 1990 on Music Man Records)

The best New Beat a boy can ask for… Dramatic melodies and bassl & hi-hats and snares everywhere…

*Bonus

16. Experto Credo Roberto – Houden Van… (From The “ ’Flanders’ Tape-Ology -A collection Of Home-Tapes “ tape released on The Cassette Factory in 1983)

Maybe not my favorite Belgian track, but I had to share this one for all the outsider people lovers… “Catholic” rap from ’83 made in Limburg w’ the most terrible lyrics and one of the best lo-fi electro beats…
