Umungus are an experimental psychedelic rock outfit whose sound owes as much to Black Sabbath as it does to John Coltrane. Hailing from Liège, the four-piece – with its drawn-out instrumentals, bluesy guitar solos and dramatic drum sequences – is currently making waves on the home-front following the release in May last year of their debut demo. As one of the rare, truly pioneering psychedelic rock acts emerging from the country’s French-speaking quarters, we recently interviewed them as part of a wider feature we ran on emerging Belgian noise-punck-rock bands in our latest edition (Order it here). We then asked them to contribute to our on-going throwaway project.
