A night at the opera: Mitridate at La Monnaie/De Munt

We’re once again partnering up with the iconic cultural institution to give the chance to 10 lucky readers to take two of their friends along for a night high in emotions and subtleties. Read on to find out what you need to do to win your three tickets.

Heralding Mozart’s opera debut at the tender age of 14, Mitridate tells the story of a king that goes by the same name and whose rule is besieged by an unhealthy fixation on treason. Faking his own death in order to test in two sons’ loyalty, he descends in an abyss of suspicion and paranoia. In this highly-charged performance, and following an open call, La Monnaie has enlisted the talents of  Le Lab’s Jean-Philippe Clarac and Olivier Deloeuil to oversee the production, which takes on the added drama of a European Summit to add a contemporary twist to the classic.

On Thursday 19th May, we’ll be taking 10 lucky readers to La Monnaie’s final production of Mitridate, on show at the Palais de la Monnaie in Tour & Taxi. In addition to the first-class ticket treatment, the night also includes an intimate introduction by Director of Dramaturgy Krystian Lada as well as a cocktail reception following the performance in presence of the artists. To win, all you need to do is subscribe to our newsletter and email a screenshot of the subscription confirmation to wewrite@thewordmagazine.com by Tuesday 17th May at the latest. The first 10 readers to do so will each win three tickets to the performance: one for themselves and two for friends.

Winners will be notified by email, together with all practical information.
