Brussels retail tastemaker La Fabrika’s ode to design restraint

Yesterday we treated you to Antwerp’s Atelier Solarshop in the first stop on our tour of Belgium’s best design shops. Today, may we present Brussels’ La Fabrika, a veritable design mecca that covers 230 square meters of the capital’s fashionable Dansaert area.

One time interior design scholar Kelly Claessens opened La Fabrika at the end of 2010 and it soon became established as one of Belgium’s leading design shops. The carefully curated items – which include everything from furniture to tableware and decorative objects – are spread out over two floors and reveal Clessen’s true passion for design and taste for a contemporary, bright, colourful and playful look that doesn’t once resort to kitsch. Brands include established as well as rooky designers like Donna Wilson and Hay to Artek and Modernica. For those who need some help figuring out what goes where, Kelly also offers a complete interior design service. And if you’re too lazy to get yourself into Brussels to check it out, then you’ll be happy to learn that La Fabrika have just launched their very own webshop, just for you.
