Using ‘Minneapolis, Mon Amour’ as a backdrop, a concert series dedicated to the musical heritage of the American city inspired by the 30th birthday of The Replacements legendary debut, L’Ancienne Belgique is inviting some of the freshest noise to come out of Minneapolis up on stage in the form of Dark Dark Dark. Formed in 2006, the five-piece folk pop troupe released their debut album ‘The Snow Magic’ on Supply&Demand in 2008, and followed up with a second full-length record, ‘Wild Go’ in 2010. Their music draws together a whole bunch of seemingly opposing musical styles, from pop and Americana to New Orleans jazz and Eastern European folk for a genre-breaking mix that’s otherworldly and heavy on atmosphere. Lead singer Nona Marie Invie’s eerie, warm voice reinforces the magical feel of rare-enough-these-days instruments like the banjo, clarinet and accordion thrown into the eclectic swirl.

We’ve five pairs of tickets to give away for Dark Dark Dark’s gig at L’Ancienne Belgique this Saturday, 21st April. All you need to do is share our Facebook fan page and send a screenshot of it to wewrite@thewordmagazine.be with ‘Dark Dark Dark’ in the subject line. The first five readers to do so will get their names + 1 added to the guest list.
