The Antwerp Hundreds

Portraits of a city's people, today

To mark the release of our Warriors edition, we've teamed up with This is Antwerp to bring you 100 Antwerp Warriors, a 100-strong selection of local movers and shakers setting the tone for the neighbourhood of tomorrow. From design and architecture to contemporary art and politics, these are the creatives shaping the narrative of the future.

DE Studio

DE Studio

Theatre venue

In August 2011 we, the Villanella theatre production company, found our home in the impressive former studios of the Herman Teirlinck school. The Province of Antwerp gave the building to us on long lease, and we christened it DE Studio, a stage and platform for young audiences, and a centre for burgeoning talent. Inviting nearly all of the city’s theatre youth theatre companies to perform their productions on our stage – FroeFroe, Artemis, Laïka, Zonzo compagnie, Theater De Spiegel and many, many more – we mostly host families and schools in our theatre. Besides that, we deem our venue an indispensable place for literature, festivals, film, dance, music, debates and parties. DE Studio is perfectly nestled in between the fashion, the theatres, the museum and the galleries of the city, and we feel that our venue is perfect to let these different disciplines meet, to then put up different projects together. DE Studio is a house where young people want to be, whether to learn, to experience or to create. It’s a house where bizarre ideas find their way, where passions are combined and where opposites attract. 24/7.

Antwerp is a city in constant movement, and what we want for this city are positive vibes. No defeatism and negativity. Creativity is key, everything else is an afterthought.
